SECOND SKIN INSTRUCTIONS

  • Leave the second skin on your new tattoo for 48 - 72 hours if possible.

  • If I have provided you with another piece to take with you, remove the first piece after 24 hours, give the area a good clean, pat dry with paper towels and reapply the film. The second piece can be left for a further 48 hours. (Please note, not all tattoos will require a second piece of second skin)

  • You may shower with the film in place, however, avoid over saturating it.

  • When you remove the film, run under warm water and peel slowly.

  • Sometimes a glue residue is left, this is not an issue and can be gently removed with soap and water.

  • Your tattoo will ooze plasma and excess ink under the film, this is normal. However if the liquid breaches the side of the film, remove as soon as possible.

CLING FILM INSTRUCTIONS

  • Leave the cling film on for at least 2/3 hours.

  • If you have a larger tattoo, we recommend you wear the cling film overnight for the first night. If the cling film applied by me at the appointment is fine, just leave it on until the next morning and then immediately remove.

  • If you want to rewrap your tattoo for the first night, make sure the tattoo is clean and dry, do not apply any cream or ointment and re-wrap with a clean roll of cling film.

  • Do not leave cling film on your tattoo for longer than 24 hours.

  • There is no need to re-wrap after the first night.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

  • When you have removed the bandage you need to give your new tattoo a really good clean. It will have a build up of excess ink and plasma which needs to be gently removed to avoid heavy scabbing. Do not use any cloths or loofas, just your hand.

  • I recommend using an inoffensive, fragrance free soap such as SANEX 0% or any specific tattoo cleansing foam.

  • When your tattoo is clean, avoid using towels to dry it for the first few days as they can harbour bacteria. Let your tattoo air dry or pat dry with clean kitchen roll.

  • Make sure you wash your tattoo at least twice a day for the first few days, as the tattoo begins to heal you can just clean it in the shower.

  • After the first day or so after removing the bandage, keep your new tattoo clean and let it settle in. When it starts to dry out you can start applying a light, fragrance free moisturiser to help with flaking and itching. I recommend Palmer's Fragrance Free Cocoa Butter, or any tattoo specific aftercare balm.

  • Always make sure your hands are clean before applying moisturiser or dipping your hands into the pot. Aftercare ointments in pots can quickly become contaminated if you aren’t careful.
